Good news, everyone!
If you need to make a delivery of raging bulls to the
China Shop Planet, we've got your crew.
They are made from various HeroClix. The professor is an old
T. O. Morrow, but with a bald head added. Bender is a new figure
of classic Iron Man, but just needed an antenna. Fry needed a
dob of glue on his head to make swoopy hair. Zoidberg required
a squidhead, which I had, so I didn't have to sculpt. Hermes,
Amy, and Leela are just repaints.
So the significance of this means I have a scratchbuild coming ...
Dexter got T. O. Morrow's head, sinc it had the thick goggles. Dee
Dee is a Harley Quinn (had to take the bomb out of her hand, and give
her a new one).
Crunk was easy, just a Hulk repaint. Fitting since the character is
just a revers color Hulk. The caped pose for Major Glory was easy to
find. I gave him a Hawkman head. I thought the beak could come off
and be the helm's eagle head. It didn't work, so after pushing out
the wings, I made a head with greenstuff. Val Hallen just needed
a thin cardstock guitar.
I did three different Space Ghosts. I wasn't sure which pose I would
like best. I still don't.
Two more Justice Friends characters that I did after I took the other
picture. White Tiger is Black Panther. Red Comrade was fun. First,
he's Batman. I glued flock on the cape to make it the wooly tecture.
The hat was greenstuff. Then I combed through my fantasy bits and
found both a hammer and hand sickle.
I loved watching the Globetrotters live and on the cartoon (much more
accessible if you grew up in rural Appalachia) in the 70's. They're
still around and I've seen them recently.
The cartoon Globetrotters have been at least on
Scooby Doo
and Futurama. This set has five men and three women, not representing
any particular ones, other than a repainted Luke Cage who could be
Curly Neal.
... oh, and the worst basketball you have ever seen. The tin foil
ball gives a nice basketballish texture. I tried the lines three
times, and this was the best.
